Perkins personified the new music emerging from KWEM in the mid 1950's with his hit song, "Blues Suede Shoes." Perkins had been discovered in Jackson, Tenn., by KWEM performer and Snearly Ranch Boy Ramsey Kearney. He was managed, along with Johnny Cash, by KWEM radio personality Dick Stuart. Perkins outsold all of the Elvis products at SUN records and was the first to chart #1 in Europe.
